Background/Expertise

Ruth joined Ford Sumner Lawyers in September 2021, bringing valuable experience from her role as an in-house litigation solicitor for a government department. Before that, she served as clerk to the Principal Family Court Judge of New Zealand, gaining unique insight into judicial processes and the complexities of family law.

Ruth holds a Master’s degree in International Law and Politics, reflecting her commitment to understanding legal issues in both domestic and global contexts. In 2017, she furthered her expertise through an internship with an International Criminal Tribunal in The Hague, Netherlands, where she gained first-hand experience in high-level international justice.

At Ford Sumner Lawyers, Ruth focuses on litigation and dispute resolution, working across a broad range of civil and employment matters. Known for her clear and thoughtful approach, she enjoys helping clients navigate complex disputes with practical, effective solutions.

Outside of her legal work, Ruth values opportunities to connect with others and contribute to her community, bringing the same care and dedication to her work at Ford Sumner Lawyers.

A self-confessed fitness enthusiast, Ruth channels her energy and passion into teaching regular group fitness classes at a local gym (we don’t where she finds the time!). She finds joy in motivating others to achieve their goals and values the sense of community that comes from working out together. For Ruth, fitness is not just about physical health—it’s a way to maintain balance and focus in her busy life, complementing her dedication to her work in law.
