Legal/Administration Assistant

 

Ford Sumner is a vibrant, forward thinking law firm specialising in corporate, commercial, dispute resolution and employment law. We work with a diverse client base across a number of industries including aviation, hospitality, trades, education and insurance.

 

We are looking for a highly motivated, reliable and organised Legal/Administration Assistant to join our growing team in central Wellington.

 

This role will be one of two Legal/Administration Assistants who will work together to ensure the smooth day to day running of Ford Sumner’s office playing a key role in supporting our management and the legal team in its provision of organised and accurate service to our clients.

 

Key attributes we are looking for in this position are:

  • A professional manner, excellent communication skills and attention to detail
  • A flexible and adaptable approach to tasks enabling you to meet the varied demands of the role
  • A sense of humour and the ability to remain calm under pressure
  • A ‘can do’ attitude and a relaxed and cooperative approach to working in a team
  • IT literate with advanced Microsoft Office skills (particularly Word)
  • Previous experience working in a legal environment would be beneficial

We offer a competitive package and although our preference is for this to be a full time role, we are open to discussing a part-time arrangement for the right candidate

Ford Sumner have a thriving corporate and commercial law practice that has a diverse client base from individuals, SMEs, large corporates and public sector clients. They are looking for an excellent Intermediate/Senior Lawyer to join their team and contribute tangibly to their clients across a range of speciality industries including insurance, education, hospitality, trades and aviation.

 

The role will focus on commercial property, commercial contracts, trust advice and some general conveyancing and private client work. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with a wide and varied nation wide client base, often working on novel matters.

To be successful in this role you will have: 

  • proven experience practising in commercial and corporate law;
  • a current NZLS practising certificate;
  • at least two-three years post qualification experience;
  • a positive, friendly, go-getter attitude;
  • great communication skills and the ability to develop a rapport with the team and your clients;
  • the drive and initiative to work independently and drive matters forward;
  • the ability to be a leader as well as a great team player; and
  • excellent attention to detail and a focus on delivering a high-quality service to clients.
