3+ PQE Civil Litigation/Dispute Resolution (Construction)

We are looking for a skilled and highly motivated Lawyer or Senior Lawyer to join our growing Construction team in central Wellington. You will have excellent client relationship skills and be motivated to advance your career by working with a great team.

To be successful in this role you will have:
- proven experience practising in civil litigation/dispute resolution;
- a strong understanding and experience with the Construction Contracts Act 2002 (“CCA”) (and a working knowledge of other associated legislation);
- a good understanding of and experience in contract law;
- experience in Court and mediation processes:
- as a junior or lead counsel, in Adjudications under the CCA;
- in Arbitrations;
- a strong knowledge of Summary Judgment procedure and standard District Court procedure and proceedings, focused on CCA and debt recovery;
- a good understanding of High Court liquidation processes;
(All of the above is not required to be considered for role but candidate must be adaptable and able to learn quickly on the job in areas that they are not as experienced in)
- a current NZLS practicing certificate and at least three years post qualification experience;
- a positive outlook with great communication skills and the ability to develop a rapport with the team and your clients;
- conscientiousness and a good work ethic coupled with a “can do” attitude;
- a flexible and adaptable approach to matters and the varied demands of a thriving office with a diverse client base;
- the initiative to work independently and drive matters forward;
- excellent attention to detail and a focus on delivering a high-quality and timely service to clients;
- a professional approach to service delivery and not only managing, but exceeding client expectations.
